How to access the service

Patients cannot book an appointment directly or attend as a walk-in.

Patients can be referred via:

  • An Oxford City GP practice;
  • The Emergency Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital
  • NHS 111

Patients referred by NHS 111 will be initially referred for a telephone appointment with a clinician. If a face-to-face assessment is required, the clinician may arrange an appointment. NHS 111 cannot directly refer patients for face-to-face appointments.

Information for healthcare professionals

The Urgent Care Centre accepts appropriate referrals from Oxford City GP practices and the Emergency Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

NHS 111 may refer a patient for a telephone appointment with the UCC. NHS 111 cannot book a patient directly into a face-to-face appointment. Following the telephone assessment, the UCC clinician will decide whether a face-to-face appointment is required.
